Practicum for Yoga Teachers
part of the Advanced +300 hr Yoga Teacher Training Program
Topics in this Practicum include:
Practice teaching (does not include assisting, observing or giving feedback).
Receiving and giving feedback.
Observing others teaching.*
Assisting students while someone else is teaching.
Special Requirement: Each trainee must spend a minimum of 5 Contact Hours actively practice teaching as the lead instructor. These hours may include the time during which the trainee is receiving feedback on his/her teaching. Time spent assisting, observing others teaching, or giving feedback to others is excluded from these hours.
*Evaluation or observation of yoga classes outside of the RYS Teacher Training constitutes Non-Contact Hours.
Practicum Details
In-Person Practicum Workshops with the Lead Teacher will occur in three 4 hr sessions (total 12 hrs)
During this segment, participants will deliver a well-rounded Trauma-Conscious asana class to their peers. Expectations will be offered and discussed ahead of time. The Lead Instructor will offer detailed guidance and instruction to support the development of the aspirant's own unique style and voice. Peers will also be expected to deliver constructive and specific feedback.
One-on-one with the Lead Teacher (1 hr)
The remaining 18 hours will entail a write up of the student’s
️Practicum within Art of Asana - 1 hour
️Practicum within Yin Yoga - 1 hour
️Practicum within Applied Anatomy - 1 hour
️Practicum within Yoga Scripture - 1 hour
️Practicum within The Eight Limbs of Yoga - 1 hour
Evaluation or observation of yoga classes outside of the RYS Teacher Training - 8 hours
Guiding Classes at no charge at a studio or in a Private Setting where feedback is given - 4 hours
