Summer Outdoor Classes
Enger Park Sunrise Shakti Flow
Tuesdays & Thursdays
6:00 - 7:15 am
with Kristy Marie Chisti & Julie Deters
This all-levels Hatha and Vinyasa Flow practice is rooted in compassion and play. Participants are invited to turn inward while welcoming curiosity and lightness. Through joyful, mindful movement, we explore Shakti energy—the dynamic, creative life force—cultivating connection to our authentic selves. This class invites a shared experience that both relaxes and energizes.
We begin with 15 minutes of playful, intuitive movement to awaken the fascia and activate our core and Shakti energy. This fosters self-awareness and vitality, unlocking the body’s natural potential and a sense of liberation.
Grounded and energized, we transition into a 60-minute yoga practice to create space and deepen mind-body-spirit connection. Movements are slow and intentional, guided by breath and self-compassion. We move through asana sequences that honor our bodies, flowing with presence and joy.
Curiosity and personalization are encouraged, empowering you to follow your inner wisdom. This is more than a yoga class—it’s an invitation to meet yourself with openness and love.
Class will be held outdoors at Enger Park, under the Scenic Overlook Pavilion. Follow the stairs to the right of the parking lot (opposite the tower) up to the pavilion.
Please bring your own yoga mat and any props or comforts you’d like. Consider wearing layers for Duluth’s shifting climate.
In case of bad weather or poor air quality due to smoke, class will be canceled. Class cancellation will be posted on our schedule, and registrants will be texted or emailed by 8 PM the previous evening for the morning class.
Please note: While we do our best to confirm cancellations the evening before, the guide reserves the right to cancel class in-person at the start time if unforeseen circumstances arise, such as sudden poor air quality due to wildfires, that make it unsafe to proceed. You will be able to use your credit towards a different class when a cancellation happens.
Bayfront Park Balanced Flow
Tuesdays
5:30 - 6:30 pm
with Kyle Leia Heyesen & Miriam Hanson
This Balanced Flow class blends gentle stretches, Yin postures, and accessible vinyasa to honor each individual’s experience, ability, and practice goals. Rooted in the yogic principle of sthira sukham—steadiness and ease—this practice supports a return to balance.
Held outdoors at Bayfront Park beside the vast, grounding presence of Lake Superior, this practice is enhanced by the lake’s powerful energy—a reminder of both strength and stillness.
We begin with slow centering and gentle awakening of the mind-body connection, focusing on presence, rest, and building strength and flexibility. Emphasis is placed on core engagement and nervous system regulation, helping us find peace amid stress and challenge.
The class may include poetry, mindfulness, mudras, breath-work, meditation, and deep relaxation. The ultimate invitation is to release layers of stored tension, reconnect with inner wholeness, and return to center.
Class will be held outdoors at Bayfront Park. When you're facing the Bayfront stage, look to the left side, past the small hill. We’ll meet in the grassy area between the Bayfront stage and the Great Lakes Aquarium—closer to the aquarium than the stage. Look for yoga mats and friendly faces!
Please bring your own yoga mat and any props or comforts you’d like. Consider wearing layers for Duluth’s shifting climate, especially so close to the lake!
In case of bad weather or poor air quality due to smoke, class will be moved indoors to Svalja Whole-Being’s Lotus Studio at 16 1/2 N. 1st Ave. W. Class relocation will be posted on our schedule, and registrants will be texted or emailed by noon for the evening class.
Please note: While we do our best to confirm cancellations by noon, the guide reserves the right to cancel class in-person at the start time if unforeseen circumstances arise, such as sudden poor air quality due to wildfires, that make it unsafe to proceed. You will be able to use your credit towards a different class when a cancellation happens.
If class is held in the studio, a virtual option will be provided.
Sunrise Qigong
Fridays
6:00 - 7:00 am
with Krista James
Qigong is an ancient practice that harmonizes body, breath, mind, and spirit through gentle movement, breathwork, and meditation. Its simple, accessible techniques cultivate Qi—the body’s vital life force—and help release energetic blockages, supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
This special practice will take place at sunrise on the sandy shore of Lake Superior at Park Point, where the stillness of the morning and the vast, grounding energy of the lake amplify Qigong’s effects. Surrounded by nature, participants are invited to move and breathe in rhythm with the natural world, deepening the experience of connection and renewal.
Class will be held outdoors on the beach off of the S-Curve (across from the Tot Lot) on Park Point.
Please bring your own blanket or comforts you’d like, although nothing is necessary. Consider wearing layers for Duluth’s shifting climate.
In case of bad weather or poor air quality due to smoke, class will be canceled. Class cancellation will be posted on our schedule, and you will be texted or emailed by 8 PM the previous evening for the morning class.
Lunar Love Flow: Full Moon Yoga at Enger Park
Held on Each of the Summer’s Full Moons
Wednesday June 11 · Thursday July 10 · Saturday August 9
7:00 – 8:15 pm
with Emily Ostos
Join us under the light of the full moon for a gentle, heart-opening yoga practice honoring lunar cycles, sacral energy, and the rhythmic beauty of the natural world. Guided by Emily, we’ll move through a gentle, grounding flow with Moon Salutations and meditative movement designed to celebrate your inner tides.
We’ll gather at Enger Park, taking in the panoramic beauty of the hillside, the peaceful presence of the American-Japanese Peace Bell, a gift from Duluth’s sister city of Ohara-Isumi, and the tranquil spirit of the Japanese Zen garden.
Class will meet at the edge of the Enger Park parking lot—Emily will guide the group to our class location, which may be under the pavilion or in the grassy area near the Zen garden.
Please bring your own yoga mat, water, layers for weather, and anything else to make your practice comfortable under the evening sky.
